People’s Movement for Democratic Change is very much concerned about news of the presumably unauthorized landing of a plane laden with cocaine at our International Air Port in Lungi.

On the same note, PMDC is pleased with the professional moves taken so far by members of the security forces especially the police in handling the matter by apprehending persons believed to have acted behind the scenes.

PRESS RELEASE

We call on the Management of Sierra Rutile Limited and the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Labour, to launch a thorough investigation into the course of the incident and recommend ways through which the bereaved families would be accordingly compensated.

PMDC says bravo to the Management of Sierra Rutile Limited for the swift action taken in rescuing the majority of staff members trapped inside the capsized dredge at the hour of the incident. More lives would no doubt have been claimed had such a swift move not been taken.

OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY
PRESS RELEASE

PMDC is particularly alarmed by the security implication attached to the landing, taken into consideration the facts that this is happening at a time when the country is trying to re-brand its name

The facts that the plane landed under the thick of darkness with the crew members disappearing into thin air, leaves rooms for question about the general security of the states.

The question is, what would have been the fate of the state of the crew members been mercenaries bent on unleashing terror on an already war weary people? They could have easily overrun the Air Port and used it as a base to amass troops and invade the country. The need therefore to strengthen the security of the state by maintaining closer looks at the strategic entry and exit points across the country can not be overemphasized.

PMDC views the matter under review as critical, and therefore call on the Government to treat it with the seriousness it deserves, by beefing up security nation wide to prevent a recurrence of any kind.

It is of further concern to PMDC that a package is missing from the consignment, and government should not relent in its effort to identify the culprits.

Blogging our Party and Country Issues
A new feature on PMDC website by Ibrahim Sheriff

Moving in line with modern technology, PMDC is exploiting the incredible benefits of web blogging to find some answers to most of the crucial problems that face Sierra Leone. The party will soon include a bloggers' page on its website where important issues of national interest will be discussed by various intellectuals within and outside of the party. The proposed issues to be discussed on the blog will include topics related to Sierra Leone, such as Water Supply Systems, Electrical Energy For Cities And Towns, Modern Sewer Systems, Bad Roads, Jobs For The People, Modern Educational Systems, Decentralized Government, Equal Opportunity Civil Service, Separation Of Powers In Government, Illiteracy Reduction, Health Systems, Concern For Women, The Youth And Children, foreign relations, Sound Economic Policies, the Role of Religion, Democratic Changes, Freedom of Speech, and many other important topics. It is highly anticipated that this most organized form of discussion will yield positive dialogue that is expected to provide some answers to our country's problems. After each week's posting of various comments on specific topics, PMDC Think-Tank will summarize and come up with the last word on the discussed topics.

Many who are new to this Information Technology service may wonder what a blog is. To help you understand, according to Wikipedia.org, "A blog (an abridgment of the term web log) is a website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video." From the above definition, our blog page will provide commentary or news on a particular subject. We will combine text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to specific topics. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of our blog. However, we will closely monitor comments posted by individuals so as to properly filter them before they hit the global audience. We will also encourage all participants to strictly observed rules governing the use of the Internet and our Internet usage policy as defined in our Privacy Notice on this website.
